Fending off competition from 3 other shortlisted hopeful aid organisations,æ The Fed, has succeeded in being selected as Heaton Park Sainsbury’s Charity of the Year.
Voted in on an online poll we will hold our position until the end of June 2016.
Manager, David Gaffin, and colleague, Viv Barber, the store’s PR Ambassador, are working on a fundraising campaign for The Fed with Rochelle Broman, our Fundraising Manager and Joyce Khan our Marketing Manager.
A programme of events throughout the year will raise awareness of our work and money to help keep services going.
David expressed his pleasure with the partnership:
“The Fed does great work. It helps many 100’s of people every day and has a reputation for being very professional yet caring at the same time. It’s exactly the type of cause we want to align our brand with and we are delighted to have this opportunity to give them our support.”
Rochelle expanded, “We are holding our first joint event with the store on Sunday August 16th – “Bags ïn’ Bagels” – when volunteers will help customers with bag-packing.
There will also be a bagel brunch for people who come toour coffee-stops, community cafe and Drop In.
David and Viv have got some lovely ideas for the rest of the year including a trolley dash on November 1st. Raffle tickets will be on sale soon.
And David will be doing the company’s Big Bike-ride in aid of The Fed on the 12th and 13th of September. He’ll be cycling about 100 miles around all 50 stores in his region. To sponsor him you can get in touch with the store or visit his special fundraiser page on this site.
