“Emotional, ecstatic, indescribable.”
The first reunions between relatives and their loved ones at Heathlands Village, beginning on 8th June, were described in moving terms by all who witnessed them, as windows and glass doors became portals between families who had not seen each other for so long.
Beaming smiles and laughter were on full display, as children, grandchildren – and even the occasional pet – came face to face with their loved ones.
Despite the adverse conditions and the restrictions around movement, our residents and their relatives showed a resilience and a determination to make the best of it, bringing much needed cheer to everyone at The Fed – including staff who worked round the clock to facilitate the visits.
All in all, 871 visits were arranged in June and July; we are all waiting for the day when they can resume safely and securely.
