The power of music has long been known to have healing and relaxing properties, but a new project from the BBC has recently opened up a world of new possibilities for people living with dementia and other memory loss-related illnesses.
BBC ‘Music Memories’ is a website which utilizes music to help people reconnect with their powerful memories. Evidence has shown that music can help people living with dementia increase their well being and increase their day-to-day happiness.
In January, the BBC will visit Heathlands Village for a day of filming with residents and their families, highlighting the ease of use of the website and showing residents visiting the website and capturing their reactions.
Staff and relatives will also be interviewed about the benefits they observe.
