We are eagerly looking forward to participating in Trek4MyVoice, supporting The Fed in commemorating 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz.
We met during March of the Living, a Holocaust education trip, and have always understood the importance of “Never Again”. We strongly believe in amplifying the voices and stories of Holocaust survivors so that future generations have access to their lived experience.
The My Voice project is especially close to our hearts; James’ grandfather, Harry Olmer MBE, is a survivor and came to England in 1945 as one of the Windermere Children, as one of the “Boys”. Harry has lived in the UK ever since and has spent decades sharing his experience with people. During the Holocaust he spent most of his time in forced labour camps, separated from his family. His mother and most of his sisters were murdered in Nazi death camps across Poland. He then ended up in Theresienstadt Ghetto where he was liberated by the Russians. He spent time in Windermere recuperating and learning to feel human again. In 2024 the My Voice project released his book “My Family is my Revenge on Hitler”. This is why we are raising money for the My Voice project, we want to show how much we appreciate the work The Fed has done to preserve his story.
Francesca is passionate about preserving historic and cultural narratives, particularly pertaining to Holocaust education and Jewish perseverance. The Trek4MyVoice fundraiser represents an excellent opportunity to mark such an important milestone, with the My Voice project contributing towards the longevity of Holocaust memorial and honouring the legacy of those lost.
