On June 8 and 9, we, (Ev & Simon), will be trekking 50kms from Carlisle Airport to the Calgarth Estate on the shores of Windermere, following routes taken by the Windermere Children who bravely survived the Holocaust 80 years ago. This is where they began their rehabilitation and started to learn to live again.
We will be undertaking this challenge in aid of The Fed’s My Voice project. My Voice is a unique project which enables Holocaust survivors to tell their life stories in their own words. The books produced are written in the first person, voicing their experiences before, during and after the Holocaust. Their reflections are recorded, transcribed, and illustrated into individual storytellers’ books. They give honour to their lives and enable their stories to be passed on to their loved ones and future generations.
These books, 45 published with 15 in production, will be used as an educational tool in schools, organisations and libraries.
Yad Vashem UK is very proud of our partnership with My Voice, bringing this important initiative to the South.
