I have been very privileged to work as a volunteer with the My Voice team and have had the distinct honour to have interviewed a number of survivors including one of ‘The Boys’.
On 8 and 9 June, I will be taking part in a two-day trek for the My Voice project. This involves a 50km walk from Carlisle Airport to the Calgarth Estate on the shores of Lake Windermere.
The route follows the journey made by the Windermere Children – Holocaust survivors who arrived in the UK in 1945. This trek marks the 80th anniversary of their arrival and supports the My Voice project’s work.
My Voice produces whole-life books about Holocaust survivors and refugees. These books are written in the words of the survivor and records their whole life-story, to promote Holocaust education. This unique collection of books is used as an educational resource in schools, universities and museums across the country. Currently there are 46 completed life-story books with another 15 in production. We are also producing short films of the survivors reading their books.
At a time of rising Holocaust denial and antisemitism, the My Voice project is needed now more than ever.
My Voice relies on voluntary funding to undertake its globally acclaimed work. Thank you in advance for your contribution.
