His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester visited The Fed on Thursday 3 September.

His Royal Highness was greeted by Chief Executive, Karen Philips, Chairman, Mark Adlestone , Vice-Chairman, David Eventhall. A former architect,æ and with an interest in conservation, he was particularly interested in the refurbishment.

During his visit he was introduced to a number of staff and residentsæ of Heathlands Village including Michael Goldsmith, a keen artist.æ He presented His Royal Highness with a picture he had painted.

After a brief tour of The Fed, the royal visitor unveiled a plaque commemorating the opening of the newly refurbished Central Hub.

“The Fed was delighted to receive a visit from HRH the Duke of Gloucester KG GCVO along with the Lord Lieutenant and the Mayor of Bury.

The Duke’s appearance provided so much pleasure to the residents and staff of Heathlands. They were able to chat to him and share their daily activities.

As an architect with insight into building development, the Duke was impressed by the refurbishment and modernisation of the building. He particularly enthused about the vibrancy createdæ- a hub of activity for the community.”
