Money raised through the 5p bag charge, brought in last October, will fund local community projects.
The Fed stands to receive a grant of £12,000, £10,000 or £8,000 through Bags for Help. How much depends on how Tesco customers vote. They will decide which of the three charities, including The Fed, will receive which size grant.
From 27 February until 6 March Tesco customers can place their vote in store.
The Fed is counting on your vote to help us get the maximum award!
The award will help fund The Fed’s Dementia Gardens Project.æ Our Marketing Manager, Joyce Khan, explains,
“We are thrilled that Tesco is endorsing our work and that the residents we look after will directly benefit.
Now it’s up to our supporters to vote for us and help us achieve the maximum award.
This will help fund the construction of two enclosed sensory gardens for people with dementia. One has sea-side theme complete with beach huts, pier and boat.æ The other has a woodland theme with a bird-hide to observe wild-life in the adjacent trees.
It is very important for people with dementia to be able to spend as much time as possible outdoors. There are well-recorded positive effects on their well-being and things like the layout, interest spots and sensory stimulation are part and parcel of providing the ideal, safe environment.”
