No matter that restrictions were still in full effect across the country, residents and staff at The Fed marked the 75th anniversary of the end of World Ward II in Europe in an appropriate and safe manner – with singing, dancing, bunting and an afternoon tea in the sunshine!

Residents enjoyed the brilliant weather and a patriotic-themed spread of sandwiches, cupcakes and drinks with everyone joining to a 40s singalong – with crowd favourite Vera Lynn getting a cheer from residents and staff alike!

Viewing the celebrations taking place, CEO Mark Cunningham remarked that “it is ironic that we ourselves have been fighting our battle to preserve the lives of those who fought for our country and lived through the war years.

“It is a great reminder of the privilege of caring for some of our community’s most vulnerable people – a reminder of who they are and what they have been through, and the sacrifices they made for us.

“It is truly a day to be celebrated.”
