Five local leading Holocaust educators, whose work was acknowledged in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List, were applauded at a special celebration at Heathlands Village on January 30th.
Named in Her Majesty’s traditional New Years announcement, for ‘services to Holocaust education,’ Eva Neumann will receive an MBE while Sonja Sternberg, Gisela Feldman, Ruth Lachs and Peter Kurer will all receive the British Empire Medal.
The honourees, who have all participated in The Fed’s My Voice life-story project, were joined by close family and friends and addressed by our chairman Bernie Yaffe, Fed trustee and Mark Adlestone OBE DL, High Sheriff of Greater Manchester.
Volunteer Services Manager, Juliette Pearce made presentations to them all and spoke passionately of the inspiring impact they make on all who meet them.
