At the beginning of June we were selected by the National Activity Providers Association and the National Care Forum to receive an award of £1,000 as winners of their ‘Coronation Community of the Year’ – recognising that we provide “a care service that goes above and beyond to celebrate the Coronation”.

As thrilled as we are to win the prize money – to be used to help fund music therapy for residents of Heathlands Village by the wonderful David Robinson from charity Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Foundation we were over the moon and even a little embarrassed by the praise heaped on us by both organisations who told us that, in essence, our application stood out head and shoulders above the rest.

We’d explained, with lots of photos, how we’d done everything possible The Fed to make sure our residents and service users from the local community had a great time celebrating this moment in history, feel included in the national celebration and in their community.

We DO work hard at The Fed – we’re possessed with a zeal to enhance people’s lives; to transform them for the better (and at times even to save literally them).

A large part of what we do involves finding ways to counter loneliness and social isolation and to improve people’s wellbeing. So, when the Coronation date was confirmed, we got our skates on in our usual way and planned no less than SEVEN glorious events for young and old.

It’s just what we do! But it was lovely to be recognised and fabulous to be receiving funds for such a valuable therapy as a result.

Thank you so much again to NAPA and NCF!
