A group of nine carers recently went to see the hit musical Mack and Mabel at Manchester’s Opera House. The trip was organised and subsidised by The Fed.
Jacqui Byron, Carers’ Advice Worker, who led the group explained,
“These outings are so necessary for people who are in caring situations.æ Carers can often lose touch with family and friends because they are so tied up with looking after a loved one 24/7- they become terribly isolated.
They need to have an opportunity to have a break, step out of their caring role, have fun and be with different people.æ And being amongst other carers who understand what their life is like is invaluable. “
A further trip is planned in February to see a production of Cats.æ All carer events and activities are planned by members of the Fed’s Carers’ Forum.
