Many people have worked with us for years and years and quite a few are related to each other. This tells us that we are not only a good employer, but a happy, family orientated place to work.

A large number of people work at our Heathlands Village care home.  We also employ people within our community teams supporting individuals, couples and families who live in their own homes. As a large organisation, we need plenty of office staff to support our front-line services.

I’m a Children’s Centre Play Leader and do ‘bank’ work as a care assistant in Moorview, our Supported Independent Living facility.

How long have you worked for The Fed?

Around 14 years.

I plan and run fun, educational activities for children with special needs and others without disabilities. I support parents who attend our Mums ‘n’ Tots sessions. When I work in Moorview I give care and support to the tenants.

What things do you love about your job?

Making a difference to someone’s life. Making every day special for them.

Do you feel able to voice your opinion e.g. through the staff forum? Do you believe your opinion counts?

Yes.

What in your opinion is the best staff perk offered by The Fed?

Training is offered and staff are encouraged to complete it. The car parking facilities are good.

Why would you recommend The Fed to someone else as an employer and place of work?

The Fed supports and values its staff members and treats everyone they support with dignity and respect.

Dave Hesk

What is your job?

I am a porter and driver.

How long have you worked for The Fed?

I have worked here for 3 years.

What do you do on a daily basis?

It’s really varied. I set up meeting rooms; clean and maintain the communal areas and grounds, and keep everywhere safe and free of hazards; I move furniture and items all over our site; I also drive our mini-buses, transporting residents on shopping trips or fun days out. During busy times, I multi-task – helping other teams meet their deadlines. We all help each other out. We’re like one big family.

What things do you love about your job?

The team work and that not one day is ever the same, but what does stay the same is the care and understanding all our staff have for our residents. The training opportunities here are fantastic. They really help you build the confidence to ensure your job is done efficiently and effectively. I actually love working for The Fed. Everyone is so kind and friendly.

Do you feel able to voice your opinion e.g. through the staff forum? Do you believe your opinion counts?

I’m a Communication Champion which means I voice the team’s opinions and questions at our staff forum. Management listen to, take on board and where possible will take action.

What in your opinion is the best staff perk offered by The Fed?

The Healthcare scheme which means you can claim money back for new glasses, dental work and physio.

Why would you recommend The Fed to someone else as an employer and place of work?

From day one you will feel valued and work with such a great friendly team.
