I have signed up to do The Ullswater Way Challenge for The Fed – 10 hours of walking (and climbing)!
During lockdown, motivation to exercise dwindled somewhat but this challenge will hopefully improve my fitness (or lack of!) and also raise much needed money for this incredible charity.
The Fed is the largest Jewish social care charity in Manchester and last year supported over 1,400 homes across Greater Manchester. That is one in eight homes in our city region and is a quite staggering – and scary – statistic. Mental health, poverty, domestic abuse, loneliness, sexual abuse, isolation, self-harm and more. The Fed really does provide life enhancing – and often lifesaving – support to thousands of Jewish people in our community.
The Fed is a local charity – not a national one – and can mostly only rely on the Manchester Jewish community to support it. It needs to raise £2 million this year to continue to be our community’s safety net.
Please help me to help The Fed to ensure no one who needs help goes without it. Whatever amount you can give is hugely appreciated.
Incidentally, when you sponsor me, you will have the opportunity to add a comment, hopefully wishing me luck but in the case of some of you, I’ve no doubt there will be the odd sarcastic, humorous or possibly insulting comment! I CAN DEAL WITH IT!!!
