Melissa says: “I have been a volunteer with the The Fed’s My Voice Project for several years now, mainly as an editor of its life story books, including those of two Holocaust survivors who recuperated in Windermere after the war.
The trek is a wonderful opportunity for me to take on a rewarding physical challenge, to walk in the footsteps of the survivors whose stories I know so well, and to raise much needed funds for this very special charity. It’s an honour and a privilege to be a My Voice Project volunteer. The project’s work in preserving the incredible life stories of Holocaust survivors and refugees and also in using them for education is so important.”
Richard says: “The Fed’s My Voice Project is hugely impressive on so many levels. It enables stories to be told that need to be heard, offers messages of hope rising out of despair, and provides a vital educational resource for posterity. The life stories are so powerful because they give voice to the first hand experiences of such inspirational people.
The trek is a fitting and poignant tribute to the Windermere Children and the 80th anniversary of liberation.”
