Hello, I am asking for your support for a charity event I am taking part in.
On June 8 and 9, I will be trekking 50kms (a touch over 31 miles) from Carlisle Airport to the Calgarth Estate on the shores of Windermere, following routes taken by the Windermere Children some 80 years ago. I have often reflected how frightening and lonely this must have been for them with most never seeing parents again; and for parents making the ultimate sacrifice to save their children.
I will be undertaking this challenge in aid of The Fed’s My Voice project.
My Voice is a unique project which enables Holocaust survivors to tell their life stories in their own words. The books produced are written in the first person, voicing their experiences – before during and after the war years. To date 45 books have been published with 15 currently in production.
The books are held in schools, organisations and libraries around the world. They are used as an educational tool to learn about the atrocities of the Holocaust. The My Voice team also accompany and enable survivors to share their stories in person while they are still able.
I have been training in the Floridian heat, and I have no idea whether on the walk it will be hot, cold, sunny or rainy but I do know that perseverance and determination will see us all finish the journey. Walking gives one time to reflect both the good and sadly the sad times we all face currently.
So whether it’s a small donation, or slightly larger than small, it will be greatly appreciated to help The Fed’s My Voice continue its important work.
Thanks
