We have taken the plunge and are joining the all ladies trek on the iconic walk – Yam le Yam (Sea to Sea). This is a challenging trek, raising money for The Fed, who look after hundreds of needy and vulnerable people in our community every day. We know that this walk will test our endurance and by doing this trek together, as best friends, we will support one another, as well the rest of the girls in the group. This is the first time we have taken on a personal challenge for charity, so we need to make it count!! We both enjoy exercising and going for walks, but this commitment is way above anything we have done before. We are so grateful for any support in helping us to raise funds for this very important and essential asset in our community.
What? A 4 day trek covering 100km, walking across the country from East to West, from the Mediterranean Sea to the Sea of Galilee.
Why? To raise a significant amount of money by giving ourselves a personal challenge that includes:
- walking for long distances carrying a heavy back pack
- covering difficult terrain
- trekking in high temperatures
- sleep deprivation (whilst sleeping in a tent!)
- avoiding migraines – as 2 sufferers, one of the main challenges will be to keep hydrated and dodge the dreaded M word!
Who? The Fed, our local Manchester charity that provides care services for all aspects of the community, who are continuously working against a deficit to cover the shortfall in Government Funding.
Day 1 – 22km
