I am a PhD student based at the University of Manchester carrying out research on employment in the care sector. The Fed is one of the oldest and largest social care charities in Greater Manchester, providing support for people both within their care home Heathlands Village as well as those in their local community. The Fed has provided me with invaluable information and support throughout my PhD research about what it is like to work in and manage a care home in Greater Manchester.
Sadly, like many other care homes across the country they have been hit hard by the Covid-crisis. Since the outbreak of Covid-19, like many others, I have been stuck in my house and in order to keep myself going through this period I have taken up running. I wanted this training to have a purpose and I can think of no better cause than to fundraise to support The Fed and the fantastic work they do in the community when they are facing such difficult circumstances. I am training for a half-marathon, which I am planning to run on 28th June and I would very much like you to sponsor my run so I can show the staff and residents of The Fed how valued and important they are.
