Supported Independent Living
MOORVIEW is a supported independent living facility based at HEATHLANDS VILLAGE in Prestwich, Manchester. It has partly furnished single and double flats and the benefit of 24 hour warden control. Several of our MOORVIEW properties were upgraded in 2011 and offer larger and more contemporary accommodation.
MOORVIEW offers a solution to older couples facing separation due to one them having increased care needs. If one spouse needs residential or nursing care the other can opt for a tenancy. This will enable husband and wife to live on the same site and spend as much time together as possible.
MOORVIEW tenants can buy in personal care and support provided by our Dedicated Home Care domiciliary staff. This can help them with their daily living activities, such as dressing, showering and remembering to take medication. The amount of support depends on a person’s individual needs and wishes and is flexible.
The cost of help with personal care may be funded by the Local Authority, subject to the tenant undergoing an assessment of their care needs and dependant upon their financial circumstances.
General support
An additional “wellbeing charge” is made for the provision of general support to our tenants and is paid alongside the rent. People may be eligible for financial help from their Local Authority in meeting our wellbeing charges.
The support provided includes help with:
• Managing the upkeep of the property
• Developing and maintaining domestic, life and social skills
• Managing finances and making benefit claims
• Maintaining social contacts and activities
• Remembering to take medication
• Maintaining independence
• Remaining safe
• Accessing support from communal organisations
It also includes provision of:
• advice, advocacy support and liaison
• supervision and monitoring of health and wellbeing
• an emergency alarm
• emotional support
Recreational therapy, entertainment and some activities are included in our rental charges. Additional charges are made for taking meals in our restaurant and use of occupational therapy services as well as facilities such as the hair salon and laundry.
Where a person is unable to afford to pay the rent privately they may be eligible for housing benefit. All tenants are subject to the usual council tax charges but may be eligible for reductions.
The MOORVIEW scheme is regulated by Supporting People, Bury and Dedicated Home Care Ltd is regulated by CQC.
