HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?

THE FED is the key organisation concerned with the welfare of Manchester’s Jewish community.

Every month our work involves looking after 1,000 people, of all ages. Our community team offers help to people across Manchester, providing vital support to people when they are at their most vulnerable. Our dedicated and caring residential care team at HEATHLANDS VILLAGE provide a comfortable, homely and Jewish environment for people who can no longer live in their own home.

Together we improve the lives of over 1,000 people each month.

HEATHLANDS VILLAGE

HEATHLANDS VILLAGE is THE FED’s residential and nursing home. It is situated on the edge of the Manchester suburb of Prestwich in Bury. Set in five acres of beautifully landscaped grounds it is surrounded by a golf course and moorland.

HEATHLANDS VILLAGE provides residential, nursing, respite and hospice care as well as day services, a supported independent living scheme and physiotherapy clinic.

HEATHLANDS VILLAGE Services:

Children & families

THE FED’s Children and Families’ Services consist of two complimentary projects which work closely together – our Children & Families’ Social Work Team and PROJECT SMILE.

Together they offer support to children with special needs, or in need, and their families. Our services help children living through a crisis eg parental illness, or in need of safeguarding. We also support foster carers.

Support is provided by social workers, family support workers and volunteers. Additionally we provided group activities. These are Stay and Play Sessions, boys-only group, occasional Parenting Courses and an Annual Respite Holiday.

Children & families Services:

Adult services

These services provide support to adults with a variety of social care problems. These include older people suffering physical ill-health, mobility issues and cognitive problems. The services also support family carers and people with mental health or emotional difficulties. Support is also available for people who need help to manage a personal budget

Support tasks include

Carrying out community care assessments
Acting as a support broker
Arranging support which enables people to maintain their independence
Supporting people who are vulnerable or isolated
Supporting family members who are carers
Providing advice and support on moving into a care home
Working with Local Authorities to safeguard vulnerable people

Chai Cancer Care is the Jewish community’s cancer support organisation, providing a range of services including counselling, complementary therapies, helpline, a comprehensive programme of social and physical activities, advocacy and advice as well as expert lectures.
