Voluntary Organisation
The Fed is delighted to be working in partnership with The Heathlands Village, Prestwich, Manchester and Chai Cancer Care of London, in extending the latter’s services to the North of England. Counselling and Therapy Services will be offered from Spring 2009 for cancer patients and their family and friends, based at The Heathlands Village, Prestwich. Further information can be obtained from The Fed’s Referrals and Advice Officer on 0161 795 0024 or from Chai Cancer Care on 020 8202 2211.
Chai Cancer Care is the Jewish community’s cancer support organisation, providing a range of services including counselling, complementary therapies, helpline, advocacy and advice as well as expert lectures.
Services are available to patients, their family and friends. Based at its Centre in Hendon, services are also available in the Redbridge Jewish Community Centre, south London (Nightingale), in people’s homes and from spring 2009 in Manchester.
Chai’s specialist professional staff is augmented by a team of trained volunteers.
Chai Cancer Care is an independent organisation serving the entire Jewish community and is reliant on voluntary contributions.

Heathlands Village is a leading care home catering for older people with varying needs. Caring for over 200 residents their facilities offer a wide range of residential and nursing services. The supported living facility, Moorview House, enables tenants to live their lives independently with flexible support when needed. Heathlands Village has been providing care since 1898 and has introduced many additional facilities over the years. Heathlands are constantly improving and adding new and better facilities and services to their repertoire.
Heathlands Village is suitable for people who wish to stay permanently in the home as well as for respite, intermediate care and day care.
Heathlands are proud of their activity programme, with regular quizzes, games, concerts, trips, multi-sensory room and a brand new cinema. They have a fully equipped recreational therapy and arts and crafts department where residents can enjoy knitting, painting, crocheting, playing games and socialising with friends.
As a village by name Heathlands aim to ensure their residents have all they need on site, with an in-house physiotherapy department, hair-salon, boutique, mini-mart and regular visits from the GP’s, opticians and chiropodists.
Heathlands Village provides high quality care with dignity and respect whilst promoting independence and choice at all times.

Langdon College is a national specialist residential college which promotes a Jewish ethos based on the concept of Judaism as a way of life.
