On Wednesday 8th February staff and residents of THE FED’s HEATHLANDS VILLAGE in Prestwich attended a tree planting ceremony to celebrate Tu B’Shevat, the holiday in the Jewish calendar that marks the beginning of the ‘New Year for Trees’.
Boys from Manchester Lubavitch handed out fruit to residents, and THE FED’s Religious Director, Reverend Keith Rosen, planted an apple tree in the gardens of HEATHLANDS VILLAGE. The event was also attended by Rabbi Walker, from the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation, who spoke to residents and staff about the significance and history of the holiday.
